XenDesktop is a powerful virtual machine from Citrix that allows users to access the Windows operating system and its applications from anywhere, regardless of platform. In fact, by installing Windows and the required programs in a central location called a server, all users, far and near, with any device and any platform will be able to run Windows and its programs. All users need is to install the appropriate Citrix Receiver on their device.
Windows applications are provided by another module called XenApp, which was previously released separately but has been moved to the XenDesktop subset in the new version. This module allows users to access all programs installed on Windows (located on the remote server) via the web. XenApp was first introduced by the company in 2008, although at the time it was offered under other names such as WinFrame, MetaFreme and.. The advantage of this shared method is that users do not need to install the software they need and simply connect to the server and run the program.
Interestingly, Windows applications will be available on non-Windows devices such as Macs, mobile devices or Chromebooks. In fact, it is possible to use XenApp for all platforms that Citrix has provided a suitable receiver. Centralized management of Windows applications and operating systems has another advantage that reduces the cost of hardware and manpower needed to support and serve users.
Ability to run Windows on most existing platforms (due to the wide range of receivers provided)
Smooth running of software (provided that the speed of the Internet and the processing power of the server are also appropriate)
Reduce maintenance costs and provide services to users
Centralized management of applications and users
High security
System Requirements
Use the MiniKMS folder to register the software.
