After the success of Windows 7, Microsoft had to work hard to maintain this position, and with the advent of a variety of mobile devices with touch screens, it was necessary to optimize Windows for them. Finally, in mid-2012, Windows 8 and later Windows 8.1 (Windows 8.1 MSDN) were introduced to meet the needs of today's users.
In this version of Windows, Microsoft used a new design language and user interface, initially known as Metro, and then unofficially renamed Modern and Windows 8 due to a complaint from the German company Metro AG. The main feature of this interface was to remove the traditional Windows Start menu and replace it with a separate page and environment.
The main purpose of this user interface was to optimize and have more features for users who used mobile devices such as Windows tablets. But apparently Microsoft had forgotten that a wide range of Windows users were still desktop users, so Windows was not well received, and Microsoft decided to Provide a full level upgrade to a new version of Windows 8, which was finally released in late 2013, Windows Blue or Windows 8.1.
In the spring of 2014, Microsoft released another update to Windows 8.1 (Windows 8.1 MSDN) to further satisfy Windows desktop users. After launching this version of Windows 8.1, the user is redirected directly to the desktop screen (a feature that did not exist by default in the basic version of Windows 8.1) as well as a few changes to make better and more efficient use of the desktop, mouse and keyboard. There is an update to marginalize the Windows 8 UI.
