Description

WINSOFT OCR is an Optical Character Recognition component for retrieving text from an image, for example from a scanned paper document. Tesseract is the most accurate open source OCR engine, and combining it with the Leptonica image processing library allows it to read a wide range of image formats and convert them to more than 60 languages. This car was one of the top 3 engines in the 1995 UNLV accuracy test. Little work was done on it between 1995 and 2006, but it has since been improved by Google and released under the Apache 2.0 license. The Leptonica library is useful for many operations on visual documents and natural images. Features of the Leptonica library include scaling, rotation, translation of images at desired pixel depth, binary and black-and-white morphology, image conversion with changes in pixel depth.
